MEET TARA GLAZIER, THE FOUNDER AND OWNER OF ABHAYA YOGA AND CREATOR OF THE ABHAYA YOGA METHOD, OUR AMAZING JULY EMPLOI OF THE MONTH
Resume: " Tara began teaching yoga 15 years ago after a career and lifetime in classical and modern dance. She graduated from the Hartt School / University of Hartford with a degree in Ballet Pedagogy. She opened Abhaya in 2010, and it has since become a hub for high quality, traditional yoga education as well as a unique community oriented, cultural and spiritual center that empowers students through eastern and western healing modalities. Tara is known for her clear, creative, and inspiring teaching. She has taught internationally (Spain, Bali, Costa Rica) and nationally, at Kripalu, and Virayoga in NYC under the direction of Elena Brower."
Path to the Top: "I realized pretty early on that I was not the type of person that could work for another and live someone else's dream. As a dancer in NYC, I endured a very difficult life of disappointment, struggle and competition. I feel that these times taught me the discipline and fortitude it takes to make it in NYC. I knew that it is was my passion to teach, and to teach teachers, and that I wouldn't be able to fully be myself and therefore truly blossom until I created my own school, and in my own way. After Abhaya opened, it quickly became successful, because finally my passion was positively directed not only to benefit myself, but for a greater purpose."
Defining moment: "I remember when I was about to quit my full time job as faculty director at Ballet Tech (a non-profit that brings Ballet education to NYC youth), and embark on a new journey of teaching yoga full time. I asked myself, "If I could teach anywhere right now, where would it be?" My answer to myself was to teach in Ibiza, Spain. In that moment, I wrote an email to Ibiza Yoga and expressed my interest. Within a week, they called to interview me and within 3 months, I was living in Ibiza for the summer, living in a gorgeous villa on the Mediterranean, getting paid to teach yoga. After this, I realized and really believed that I could manifest my life. It was the most empowering moment."
Statement piece: "My general style is simple and classic. The emploi dresses align with my desire for classic lines and a clean, natural look without too much frill. There is an element of sexy yet stated elegance. emploi dresses are appropriate for my life outside the studio for events or even salsa dancing!"
